Swift Canoes Wildfire
The Swift Wildfire is a super lightweight solo open canoe that crosses the classic David Yost design with the superb Swift Canoes lightweight construction process. This really does give the best of both worlds, a classic well loved design that is easy to 1 person lift and load onto a car as well as move around on and off the water. The Swift Canoes Wildfire uses a shallow arched hull which is symmetrical below the waterline, however above the water line the bow is slightly higher than the stern. This allows a little more protection from splash or chop and when cruising on slightly bouncing rivers, lakes or broads. While the Wildfire is brilliant for fast river cruising when you heal it over its playful nature comes to the forefront and it becomes tremendously manoeuvrable. The wonderful thing about the Swift Wildfire is not only that its super lightweight but it also is great for intermediate or advanced paddlers, having a hull that is not limiting and can help you develop & grow as a paddler.
Swift Canoes offer some of the worlds lightest of all the lightweight canoes, these canoes are also fantastically durable boats. The UK standard spec for Swift Canoes uses the most popular laminate Kevlar Fusion, this has the best strength to weight ratio and sees the Wildfire weigh in at only 12.7kgs this really does make it simple and easy portage, car top or generally move around on and off the water. Kevlar Fusion super lightweight canoes are made with a urethane resin system for top level durability and longevity along with a thin layer of exterior gel coat. These hulls are constructed of an exterior layer of polyester as well as S-Glass and Kevlar cloth layers which sandwich a durable foam cored rib/base system. The laminate is then fused together with the high impact, flexible urethane acrylate resin injected during Swift Canoes high pressure infusion process produces the optimal dispersion and laminate consistency. Based on a laminate material construction, Kevlar Fusion is the most popular material as it offers great abrasion as well as impact resistance. These Swift lightweight open canoes can be finished in some fantastic colours which gives them a brilliant exterior appeal, especially with a 2 tone champagne hull colour scheme. Swift Canoes have spent a lot of time developing their UV shield that they are now using protect all their hulls even further, this reduces the impact of UV on the construction laminate material and also reduces the weight slightly as well. The UV shield adds some scratch resistance, while scratches will still be slightly visible initially, after the application some 303 aerospace protectant (not included) they are much less visable and scratches are then protected. Don't forget as with any laminate boat, a single application of this protectant will only last for a couple of trips so it will need to be reapplied regularly.
The Wildfire being made from the superbly lightweight Kevlar Fusion laminate needs a gunwale/trim that not only looks as appealing but is going to keep things as light and tough as possible. The Carbon Kevlar Trim makes a Swift Canoe one of the lightest Canoes out there, using a unique to Swift Canoes manufacture process it enables Swift to infuse the Kevlar Fusion canoe hull and gunwales as one. This makes a super strong and rigid bond between the hull of the canoe and gunwale/trim.

BadgerTail Canoe Paddle
The Badger Paddles BadgerTail is a very popular open canoe paddle with a beavertail (or BadgerTail in this case) style blade. This powerful blade is forgiving, versatile and offers a brilliantly smooth & quiet paddle stroke. With an overall blade volume close to the Badger Paddles Tripper but due to the BadgerTail holding most of its volume lower in the blade the power and leverage is increased. Holding more volume in the lower section of the BadgerTail blade also means should you hit shallower waters the you still get a descent amount of the paddle blade into the water to keep you moving.
